Artists Employment

Artists Employment - Brushing Up Online?

By Richard Rowley

We have all herd the phrase 'the starving artist' and that's probably because artists employment has always been a little difficult to come by. Salaried jobs for the qualified and the lucky few who land the positions can be very good. But what about those artists who don't make the final interview or even the Bohemian creatives who simply don't want to be tied to a job?

Well there are the usual roots of selling your work in a gallery, setting up your own gallery or shop or working hard to find those rare but lucrative commissions.

During the digital age there have been some people with the self discipline and motivation to set up online. Artists have found great success with websites displaying their work or even selling it directly on sites such as e-bay.

Yet there still remains millions of artists seeking employment or a regular source of income. Often these may be people who simply remain amateurs or 'closet' artists in their own time but would be interested in making some money from their work.

  • Look hard enough and you can find some services online that provide artists employment but in an unusual way.

Several companies allow you to upload your work, whether it be a painting, technical drawing or simple doodle, where it is then displayed to buyers.

If someone likes your work and buys it, you get paid.

Admittedly not all of the opportunities are as simple as this and some may require a little extra work on your behalf but this type of employment or income is becoming a bit more known and used in the art world.

  • Some of the best 'get paid to draw' style sites offer some interesting industry information and often access to freelance work if you are up to the job.

However, be aware of any site that ties you in to some sort of contract. Neither you or your work should be signed over to the company on a permanent basis. yes you give your work up for sale and transfer rights to the buyer upon purchase, but don't sell your creative soul to the devil. Artists employment should remain fun and inspiring!

Lean more about artists employment and discover how you can get paid for the simplest of 5 minute doodles or even a photo on your digital camera. Submit as much material as you like, increase your chances of making a great income from the comfort of your home and start today.
